I’m crazy about books.

I like the crisp, clean pages of a new book.  Some people like the smell of a new car.  I like the smell of a new book.  I like old books too.  They smell of dust and mustiness, the pages are turned-down and sometimes there are notes in the margins in faded pencil or pen. 

I’ve had a passion for books since Mrs. Martin’s Grade One class. She promised we’d be able to read a whole book at the end of the year and on the last day of school she had a book for each child in the class.  And we could all read them.  Mine was the Little Red Hen.  Given my passion for books it’s not really surprising that I ended up becoming a writer.
